| Entry number: B08001 Project Name: Wild Rose Hotel & Casino Building Type: Hospitality Completion Date: July 2008 Architect: EV&A Architects Design Team: Narrative/Project Description: The client wished to build a premier "Vegas-style" gaming resort facility on a 28.6-acre parcel just off the main highway in Clinton, Iowa. Iowa's first 100% land-based casino, the property features a 28,000 square foot casino, appealingly themed restaurant/tavern, buffet, 60-room hotel, and a 15,000 square foot events center. The prairie-style aesthetics drew inspiration from the architecture of the region in the early 20th century. Playing on the design elements from this era such as flat or hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows grouped in horizontal bands, and horizontal lines that meld the building with the prairie landscape, the design evokes a sense of place and regional heritage. A grand promenade links all the resort functions and allows daylight to penetrate into the spaces. Crisp whites, accented with earthy brown hues, further brighten the interiors and help create a welcoming environment. Archival photography from Clinton's past and artwork from local/regional artists connect patrons to the community that welcomes the Wild Rose Clinton Casino & Resort. Sustainable Description: | ||
