ARCHITECTURE STUDIES LIBRARY (ASL) Facts
University of Nevada, Las Vegas


  The Architecture Studies Library is located on the southern end of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. The ASL, which opened in the fall of 1997, supports the School of Architecture by providing specialized collections and services in architecture, building sciences, interior design, landscape architecture, and urban planning. The Library is also an important resource for local architecture professionals and the general public, with an extensive collection on Las Vegas area architecture and architects.

BUILDING FACILITIES
The Architecture Studies Library building (approximately 16,000 gross square feet) includes spaces for book and periodical stacks, individual carrels on both of its floors, current periodicals display shelving, exhibits, a reference area, clippings files, special collections, group study rooms, a computer lab, and assorted equipment.
The architect for the building was Swisher & Hall. The interiors furniture selection and placement was a project of one of the School's interior design classes.

BOOKS
Our collection is currently comprised of over 24,000 bound volumes, which support both undergraduate and graduate levels of study.

JOURNALS
The ASL’s serials collection contains over 240 titles, with more than 175 current subscriptions. Many of the ASL titles are also becoming available online. Search: Serials Solutions by subject.

MEDIA RESOURCES
More than 600 items are in the library’s media collection, including videos, DVDs, CDs, slides, and cassettes.

MICROFORMS
Our microforms section maintains over 575 titles and includes research collections such as the microfilm version of American Architectural Books, the Historic American Buildings Survey and the National AIA awards.

HOURS

During fall and spring semesters, the ASL is open 74 hours per week, including 13 hours on the weekend.
