Harrah’s Entertainment Corporation
This four story office building and parking structure is the headquarters to the Harrah’s Group which is a major player in the gaming industry and requires a corporate building that reflects its prestigious image. It is situated on a five and a half acre site adjacent to the I-215 beltway and McCarran Airport interchange. A themed streetscape modeled after the McCarran Center Master Plan, large turf panels, and oasis desert landscaping surround a structure that is fenestrated with 20-foot to 25-foot high date palms. A thirty-foot wide by six-foot high, arched, signage wall and three thirty-foot high flagpoles were strategically placed at the building frontage to be highly visible from the beltway. A custom-designed statuary planter was installed at the building main entrance as a focus. Use of decorative planter pots on lighting pedestals accent the pathway leading to the entrances of the structure. An employee courtyard was designed to provide comfort and shade to lunch time activities and social events. Three sculptures provided by the owner were designed into the space, the dominate one being a life sized Indian warrior and his fallen horse. This sculpture was proximately located at the entry to the building on a raised platform clad in granite with planting to reflect the natural prairie. The lighting of each sculpture, the plant material, and the building has won acclaim from several factions. Attention was paid to detail and wanting to portray a sense of stability and longevity. This was achieved by using large specimen plant material and rich building materials.
