ROBINDALE PARK MASTER PLAN

Project Purpose:  The Robindale Park Master Plan is a 33-acre site set adjacent to the I-215 beltway in Clark County. The park was proposed to provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities for a diverse group of people.

Goals and Objectives: By attending several public meetings, listening to potential park user groups, and working with public entities, a list of many necessary amenities and park options became apparent.  Based upon the requests of the various entities, thoughtful consideration was given to the types of amenities to be assigned to the park.  A combination of both passive and active amenities was determined appropriate for the park.  The program now consists of active amenities such as baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, playgrounds with fabric multi-span shade shelters, a dog park, and a water play area.  The passive amenities include a meandering jogging, walking, bicycling path system that connects with existing adjacent trail systems, several picnic ramadas, concession stands, and large open space play areas for non-programmed sports.  This destination for recreation also bridges the Duck Creek Wash.  It is strategically accessible by several parking areas and provides accommodations for various restroom facilities for both the Wash and the park itself.

Notable Aspects:  A popular method of creating interest in the design of a Master Plan is to incorporate an all encompassing theme.  Because of the emphasis placed upon team sports and specifically baseball, the park was designed with a baseball theme in mind.  Tot lots and water spray areas integrate the baseball theme while still providing their basic functions.  The large baseball fields were placed in the middle of the park setting to emphasize the hierarchy of functions.
