Brief biographies on some prominent women architects of the late 19th or early 20th centuries can be located in the works devoted to women's history. Women's History Sources: A Guide to Archives and Manuscript Collections in the United States was among the best. However, the majority of the information available will be found in the materials devoted to architects rather than to women. The MacMillan Encyclopedia of Architects is more limited due to its 1982 publication date. For a more comprehensive list of Reference Sources, see the Dictionaries and Encyclopedia section of the UNLV Library Research Guide to Architects. http://www.library.unlv.edu/arch/rsrce/resguide/archtect.html
Library of Congress Subject Headings related to this topic include:

with various subheadings such as United States and Biography, History, and Criticism.
Information for a specific woman architect can be located by Subject and Author using the name of the particular woman such as: Morgan Julia
Keyword Searches can be helpful to locate a chapter on a specific woman architect or women in architecture that may be included in a volume on many architects. Try keyword: Julia Morgan. Or try keyword: feminist architecture or women space architecture.
Keyword Searches can also be used to locate a related chapter that may be included in a volume on women's studies. Try keywords: feminist architecture or gender space.
