About Us

Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson

Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson is an Associate Professor for Counselor Education in the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She earned her doctorate in counseling and counselor education and holds graduate degrees in curriculum and instruction. She has extensive experience working with children and families both as a licensed professional counselor and as a registered nurse. Dr. Pehrsson uses multiple aspects of storytelling as a therapeutic intervention in her clinical work and teaching. Her current research interests include the universality of storytelling and the diversity of symbolic representations. She has been collaborating with Paula McMillen on research projects related to effective teaching and the use of literature since 1999. She can be reached at: Dale.Pehrsson@unlv.edu

Paula McMillen

Paula McMillen has a doctoral degree in clinical psychology as well as her master's degree in library science, a combination which suits her well for this collaborative project on bibliotherapy. Her professional experience includes over 20 years in various mental health and health care settings. She is currently the Education Librarian and an Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries. She has been working on projects related to the evaluation of books for therapeutic use with Dale Pehrsson since 1999. She can be contacted at: Paula.McMillen@unlv.edu.
