SummaryVerdi is a yellow baby python. One day her mother tells her to go out and grow up into a big green python. Verdi decided to go and talk to some other snakes to find out how to grow up big and green. When she finds and talks to the snakes, they are relaxing in the trees talking. She decided that through her interaction with them that they are lazy and rude and that she is going to remain being an active yellow snake. She then pulls down a tree branch and launches herself into the forest to go explore. Upon seeing this, the other snakes wonder if she will ever make it to being a green snake. One day, to Verdi’s horror, she notices that she is turning green. She decides that she will try and scrub her green off. When she gets in the river she almost gets eaten by a fish but is able to fight her way to freedom. She falls into some mud and decides that being brown is better than being green. In time the mud hardens and falls of her reviling that she is even greener. In a final effort she tries to fling herself into the bright yellow sun to remain her yellow color. As she falls from the sky, she hurts herself on the ground. The green snakes, having been watching her the whole time, pick her up and splint her to a branch to heal. As she is healing she hears the other green snakes talking about the wild adventures that they used to have and realizes that being a green snakes does not mean giving up being active. Now Verdi has completely turned green and is waiting in the forest. A new batch of baby yellow snakes come by and assumes that she is just another lazy green snake. Verdi ask the yellow snakes if they want to go climbing and shows them that being a green snake does not mean that you can not still be young at heart.
