UNLV student Niko Navalta was selected as the winner of the UNLV “I Voted” Sticker contest with a Nevada-shaped design that captured nearly 42% of the vote, securing the victory by a wide margin.
Navalta’s design was the top pick of six finalists voted on by UNLV faculty, staff, and students, securing a $100 RebelCash prize. The sticker will be handed out to voters during early and election day voting at Lied Library starting October 30.
“This sticker is inspired by UNLV and some iconic locations from the Strip,” Navalta wrote of the submission. “The sticker is the shape of Nevada. In the foreground, a row of cartoon animal students are lined up to vote. In the background, you can see the LINQ, and the Las Vegas Sphere. Overall, this sticker is an homage to the city of Las Vegas while also appreciating the inclusivity and diversity of UNLV.”
Navalta is a senior Art Major and Honors student, and is currently in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. They are president of the A4 Zine Club, and enjoy making comics about rabbits. When they aren't in their studio, Navalta likes reading comics, traveling, and playing with their two cats, Phoenix and Ramses.
Early voting in Lied Library is scheduled Oct. 30-Nov 1 from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the Goldfield Room at Lied Library. The Election Day voting site will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Goldfield Room in Lied Library.
