Binding Personal Copies of UNLV Theses and Dissertations

August 2009

(printer-friendly version - .pdf)

INTRODUCTION

The UNLV Libraries binds copies of all UNLV theses, dissertations, and papers in its collection using a high-quality commercial bindery located in Washington. For a fee, the Libraries will bind personal copies of UNLV theses and dissertations using the same binding specifications as the UNLV copies. This article provides the information necessary to have a personal copy(s) bound for you. If after reading this handout you have unanswered questions, please contact Pat McCarty (702-895-2217 or patsy.mccarty@unlv.edu). If you have questions about UNLV-required Graduate College or department copies such as quantity, type of paper, etc., please check with the Graduate College or appropriate department for this information.

THINGS TO KNOW

The cost is $30 if you pick up; $45 if we ship to you via FedEx ground in the contiguous US, each copy being bound, paid in advance. Cash, check payable to Board of Regents, credit card, or University IDR (Inter-Departmental Requistion) are all accepted.

Theses/dissertations will be bound in black with gold lettering unless a different color of binding is requested (other choices are blue, red, or gray). The gold spine lettering will include brief title, last name, date, and UNLV imprint. Lettering across the front cover will include the full title, author’s full name, date, and UNLV imprint.

Binding will take eight to ten weeks from the time the thesis/dissertation copy(s) is delivered to the Library.

We do not make photocopies, you must provide all complete copies exactly as you want them bound. Items are bound as delivered—we do not check for errors. If there are pages missing or out of order, the item will be bound with pages missing or out of order. Each copy should be contained in a large envelope or box.

Supplemental materials (maps, charts, CDs, etc.) will be put in a pocket in the back of the bound volume. Printed materials such as maps, charts, etc., should be folded smaller than 8.5 x 11 inches so they can be inserted in a pocket.
