Creating Links to Library Resources on WebCampus
Creating Persistent Links
- Persistent links let you add links to library resources to WebCampus or to a personal web page. Usually you cannot just copy and past the link directly from your browser. A persistent link must be created, to ensure you can get back to the resource.
- Legal agreements require that only people affiliated with UNLV can access library databases. A proxy server verifies UNLV affiliation and allows access to resources from off campus. You will need to add this proxy prefix to the beginning of your persistent URL to ensure off-campus access. The proxy prefix is: https://ezproxy.library.unlv.edu/login?url=

- If full-text is available, right-click (control-click on a MAC) your mouse on the link for either Full Text HTML or Full Text PDF and "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut".
- This link does not include the proxy prefix. Add https://ezproxy.library.unlv.edu/login?url= to the beginning of the URL, if you need the link to be accessed off-campus.
Example:
Proxy Prefix + Copied link to this record = http://www.blackwell-synergy.com.ezproxy.library.unlv.edu/doi/pdf/10.1046/j.1440-1681.1999.02990.x
Persistent URL=

Electronic Books
NetLibrary: It is not recommended that you link to books in NetLibrary, since each e-book is viewable by only one person at a time.
Ebrary:
- Use the Library Catalog and search for your Ebrary book by title. If you don't have a specific title you can browse ebrary books by using the keyword "ebrary".
- If you get more than one result, click on the title of your book to see the full record.
- Look for the following link under "Click here to:" An electronic book accessible through the World Wide Web; click to view. Right-click (control-click if on a MAC) and "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut".
- The link includes the proxy prefix.
Example: Right-click on An electronic book accessible through the World Wide Web; click to view= http://ezproxy.library.unlv.edu/login?url=http://site.ebrary.com/lib/unlv/Doc?id=10155164
Persistent URL = http://ezproxy.library.unlv.edu/login?url=http://site.ebrary.com/lib/unlv/Doc?id=10155164
