Collection Size: 350+ volumes
Board books are printed on thick, durable paperboard and are a format specifically designed for babies and toddlers. They include both original works and reprints of picture books and are typically sized to fit easily in small hands.
In addition to promoting family literacy, board books are used to establish an appreciation for reading in young children and to help them develop the fine motor and cognitive skills needed to read traditional books.
Board books are included in the TDRL collection for early childhood educational purposes including curriculum application, reader identity development, bibliotherapeutic uses, and to promote the love of reading.
The TDRL strives to create inclusive collections which reflect a wide range of stories, settings, and topics relevant to the diverse identities and needs of the P-12 students in our communities.
