Individual study carrels
For more independent and quiet space, the Architecture Studies Library also offers study carrels along the main walls on both the 1st and 2nd floor.
Powered adjustable-height tables
Two adjustable-height tables are available on the 1st floor.
- One table includes the the QuickSearch catalog computer.
- The second includes a lightpad that can easily be moved.
Computer lab
This multi-function space is located on the 2nd floor offers 6 work stations with double monitors and additional workspaces with AC power access.
Mezzanine
This open study area on the 2nd floor offers a panoramic view of the library and city skyline.
Group study rooms
- 2 group study rooms
- Available to current UNLV students for academic use only
- Each space can be reserved for up to 3 hours, 14 days in advance
- Includes:
- Table
- 8 chairs
- wall mounted glassboard
- Power outlet (AC)
- Wifi
Solo study pods
- 2 reservable one-person study pods
- Designed for solo students to complete their coursework, give presentations, or focus with minimal distractions.
- Each pod can be reserved daily for up to 3 hours, 14 days in advance
- Includes:
- Adjustable-height stool and desk
- Adjustable lighting and fan
- Built-in power (AC and USB-C)
- Acoustical features to keep things quiet inside
- Wifi
Study spaces guidelines
Group and solo study spaces are available to UNLV students for academic use only and they are designed exclusively for group of three or more users. Individuals or pairs studying in these spaces must immediately surrender the room in favor of groups wanting the space.
No scheduled meetings or events may be held in the group study rooms.
Behavioral standards
In addition to the Libraries’ Expectations for User Conduct, users will adhere to the following standards.
- Groups are to be considerate of other library users, talking should be kept at conversational levels appropriate for an academic environment
- Each individual assumes responsibility for the conduct of all group members and the condition of the room.
- Unattended personal property does not reserve group study rooms, and is subject to immediate removal by Library Security.
- Users are not to limit or block access to rooms.
- Food and beverages are allowed in compliance with the Libraries Food and Drink Policy
- Use of rolling dry erase boards inside rooms is prohibited
Reservations
Selected group study rooms in Lied Library are reservable by UNLV students only, in adherence to the guidelines below. Group study rooms that are not reservable are open and available to groups of three or more on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms cannot be held by individuals or pairs for later group arrival.
- Room reservations are available to UNLV students only and exclusively for a group of 3 or more**
- Make reservations directly by logging into the online system with an active ACE account. Library staff cannot make or modify a reservation or provide reservation details.
- Priority is given to groups with reservations over groups using a room on a first-come, first-served basis.
- 3-hour daily limit.
- Reservations are made in 30-minute blocks of time (30 minutes – 3 hours).
- Multiple reservations can be made in one day (up to 3 hours).
- Rooms can be reserved up to two weeks in advance.
- There is a 15-minute grace period for group arrival, before the space becomes available for other groups.
